Teen Depression: Recognizing the Signs and Supporting Your Child

Concerns about teen mental health have increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a recent study by Mott Children's Hospital found that ~40% of parents are not confident in their ability to distinguish between normal teenage "ups and downs" and the signs of clinical depression. This interactive session is designed to:

1) Strengthen parents'/caregivers' abilities to identify the risk factors and warning signs of teen depression;

2) Equip parents/caregivers with practical strategies that they can use to support their teen's mental health; and

3) Increase parents'/caregivers' understanding of available treatment options (e.g., therapy, medication).

This talk can be offered in either a 60-minute format (limited Q&A) or 90-minute format (with Q&A/discussion), and can be delivered  virtually or in-person. Content can be tailored to the needs of specific groups and communities.
